Here you can find all my calculators for bust darts. Everything you need to know — numbers, instructions, bust dart placement, how to measure yourself, etc. — is included in each calculator below the calculations. Just scroll down!

A little disclaimer: The front end of my calculators (the pretty part you see and where you enter your measurements) was created with Claude. All calculations, logic, schematics and text were created and tested by me.

I did not simply tell AI to “create me a calculator.” I created everything in Excel first, tested it, rewrote the instructions many times, and tried to figure out all the changes required for each different approach — bottom-up, top-down, worked flat, worked in the round, etc.

I used Claude for the GUI mainly to save myself a lot of time, because the work behind these calculators already adds up to several days — maybe even weeks — of tweaking, calculating, testing, and figuring things out before everything was finally put together.

And please, if you think you have found a mistake in one of the calculators, just let me know! I will have a look at it and correct it if it turns out to be a genuine mistake. These calculators have been tested, but I am only human, and there is a lot going on behind them. 

I also want to add a combined calculator that would allow you to work with both vertical and horizontal bust darts at the same time. Another step will be adding a feature that works with pattern repeats.

And one more thing: all of this is completely free. This is my little gift to the knitting community. You do not need to subscribe to my newsletter (although you absolutely can if you want to — the option is below), and you do not need to pay for the calculators.
