Test Knitting

Test knitting is an important part of every pattern I release. Before a design becomes available to everyone, it is knitted by a group of volunteer knitters who help me refine the pattern by checking the fit, instructions, sizing, and overall knitting experience. Their feedback ensures that every pattern is as clear, accurate, and enjoyable to knit as possible.

Who can apply?

I welcome knitters of all experience levels. Whether this would be your first test knit or you've participated in many before, you're welcome to apply. What matters most is that you can communicate clearly, provide honest feedback, and commit to completing the project within the agreed timeframe.

When reviewing applications, I look at your previous knitting projects through your Instagram or Ravelry profile. I don't expect professional photography, modelled photos, or a large social media following—I simply need to be able to see your knitting. If your Instagram isn't knitting-related, that's absolutely fine as long as you have a Ravelry profile with project pages and photos of your work.

How the selection process works

You can join my tester list by completing the application form below. Members of the tester list receive an email invitation 48 hours before each public Instagram test call. During this priority application period, I review tester list applications first and fill as many places as possible before opening the remaining spots publicly.

Joining the tester list does not guarantee selection, but it does ensure that you'll hear about every test knit before it is announced on Instagram.

Each test group is carefully balanced across sizes, yarn choices, knitting styles, and experience levels. If you are not selected for a particular design, it is not a reflection of your knitting skills—I often receive far more excellent applications than available places.

What I expect from my test knitters

Test knitting is a collaborative process. I ask testers to:

  • communicate openly throughout the test knit;
  • let me know if unexpected circumstances prevent them from finishing (life happens!);
  • provide feedback on the pattern and instructions;
  • share work-in-progress and finished photos as requested;
  • complete the project by the agreed deadline whenever possible.

Deadlines are slightly flexible because knitting should remain enjoyable, but clear communication is essential. If you need to step back from a test knit, simply let me know.
