ABOUT THE CONSTRUCTION

The sweater is worked in separate pieces, starting at the shoulders. The right front is worked first with neckline shaping, followed by the right back. The left front and left back are worked in the same way. The front pieces are then joined and knit flat to the armholes, and the back pieces are joined and knit to the same length. Front and back are joined at the underarms, and the body is worked in the round; instructions for optional bust darts worked using German short rows are included in this section. The shoulders are sewn together, then sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes and worked with gradual decreases toward the cuff. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline and worked as an I-cord.
