Olival is a summer top with an A-line silhouette and a diamond cable pattern at the front. It’s a perfect piece for your summer wardrobe - light and airy with interesting details such as a faux side seam and double-knit edges.
Olival means olive grove in Portuguese and the inspiration for this pattern comes from exactly such scenery. The side cables of the main pattern remind me of drops of olive oil, while the ribbed pattern inside each diamond resembles rows of olive trees in a grove.

ABOUT THE CONSTRUCTION
You start by provisionally casting on for the back, and shaping the shoulders. Then you work the left strap and front, increasing for the neckline and armholes at the same time. Then you work the double-knit edge across the back and work the right strap and front in the same way. Next you work the upper back, shaping the armholes as you go, before joining in the round to work the body. This includes the charted Olival pattern, faux side seams, and a cable down the back. The optional A-line shape is achieved through occasional increases, The hem is worked in half-twisted rib. The final step is finishing the double-knit edges at the underarms and grafting them together.
